The Client Who Inspired Me
On Tuesday we had the grand opening of our new location and it was nice to meet clients I had not met before. This one man around 50 years old (that I don’t want to mention his name simply because I didn’t ask him permission) told me something that inspired me and I felt the need to share with you.
He first came up to me and told me that today was the day he reached his goal of losing 50lbs. What really inspired me was the situation that had made him take action in the first place. Listen to this:
He went to see the doctor and his eye sight was bad, after blood tests, it turned out he was diagnosed with diabetes. But instead of just accepting the situation and continuing on his journey of bad eating and relying on medication for the rest of his life (like so many people do) he made a decision that day to completely change his lifestyle. Since then he has lost 50lbs, he is not considered diabetic anymore, off medication and his eye sight is back.
This is a great story and don’t get me wrong I’m incredibly proud of this person but the truth is when I hear stories like this I get a little bit of fire in my belly, like I need to get this out there, I get frustrated by the fact that people miss that opportunity like he saw. Not the people that miss it because they don’t care about themselves. I’m talking about the people that miss it because they don’t know or believe it’s even possible. The people that feel they are left with little choice and think that exercise and nutrition will have minimal impact.
But here is the truth coming from Lance Armstrong:
“Anything is possible. You can be told that you have a 90-percent chance or a 50-percent chance or a 1-percent chance, but you have to believe, and you have to fight.”
