“Hi there, I’m Edwin. Let’s start by saying that I have spent several years doing no exercise… nada, cero. Also, I love good tasting food. As expected, I started to gain weight. The “climax” of this process happened during my last summer vacations in Mexico, where delicious food and heavenly drinks, helped me enjoy life to the fullest. Or at least that’s what I thought.

Then something happened. On a period of a couple of months, one of my friends who is 32 years old, suffered a heart attack; a cousin had developed high blood pressure; and a friend had been in the hospital for a week after some chest pains and high cholesterol. So one day, at the coffee station in my office, I was talking about my need to be pushed into doing some sort of exercise. Phil Shaer, an FFF member for some time heard this and suggested to give it a try and enroll at FFF.

I started working out with Vince and I got the diet. The diet was something not easy to follow at the beginning, and I have to confess that I have ALWAYS cheated on the portion size, but at least I was eating what I was suppose to be eating. Sadly, I discovered that most of my cherished Mexican, Thai, Italian and Chinese dishes… were NOT on the healthy diet. The good part is that the combination of diet/exercise has produced some nice results already. After roughly 3 months, I have lost 29 pounds! And I tell you, if I hadn’t experienced it myself, I would have swear that I would not be able to do it.

What has been a surplus besides the weight loss, is that my trainer Vince has given me some stretching exercises that have fixed a lot with my lower back problems. Some other exercises have strengthened my core and back which has made a significant improvement in my life, i.e. I don’t suffer when my daughter Ana jumps from the 5th step on the stairway and just shouts “papá!” expecting me to turn around and catch her in a fraction of a second. I have started using clothing on sizes that I have not being able to wear for 5 years… and I am in need for a new belt!!
