Mental Training
by Jean-Luc Boissonneault
Whether you want to have a great body, win a golf tournament or become the next UFC champion, you will only become the best when you have mastered your mind.
You can't escape your mind, it is with you all day long and when you go to sleep. You must learn how to manage your conscious and subconscious mind. Here are the 5 most important factors to master:
Perception
Motivation
Goal setting
Attitude
Focus
"What you believe you will achieve"
Movement creates emotion. (not moving is know as death. Anthony Robbins)
Emotion creates perception.
Perception creates good or bad performance and result.
Perception can be how you perceive yourself, other opponents, the sport or the challenge you face or even the people around you.
The motivational force that you will have is based on two perceptions:
The perceive value of the goal or outcome
The perceived belief that the goal or outcome is attainable.
In other words, if the goal seems very attractive and you believe strongly that you can achieve it, than the motivational force is strong. However, if you really want it but you don't really believe you can achieve it than the motivational force is low.
Here is what mental training consists of:
Visualization
Mental rehearsal
Self talk, mood and though control
Arousal strategies
Positive thinking
Stress management
Goal setting and motivational tactics
Focusing techniques
Relaxation techniques
Post reflexion
Perception awareness
This may seem like a lot to manage, but if your goal is to win than its a must. Let's put it this way: Two opponents trained the same way, have the same physical skill, same physical strengths. Who Win's?
